Food
At Athy College we operate a Breakfast Club where students are welcome to a simple breakfast each morning before school (Tea/Coffee/juice/toast/cereal) free of charge.
At the morning break sandwiches and fruit are available for all students also free of charge.
A subsidised lunch is available Mon to Thur at the cost of €2.50 per day.  We ask students to pay in advance.  Lunch consists of filled rolls and soup or a hot dish on some days

Leaving School
First and Second year students are not permitted to leave the school during lunchtime and we appreciate the overwhelming support of parents in operating this policy

Mobile Phones
Mobile Phones are not permitted in the college.  If they ring or become visible to staff members they will be confiscated.  See full policy here.

School Opening Times
The school opens at 8.15am and supervision is provided from then onwards.  The school can take no responsibility for students who arrive earlier than this

Tutor System
The school operates a Year Head/Tutor system where one particular teacher takes responsibility for a class group.  The tutor is the first point of contact for parents and it is the tutor wo will be most familiar with your son/daughter

Gaeltacht Scholarship
Annually two scholarships are awarded fron the VEC to selected students through competition.  The scholarships are normally for a three week period during the Summer holidays

Academic Scholarship
An academic scholarship is awarded annually to the highest academic achiever in our entrance assessment.  The scholarship covers the cost of books and uniform for the first year and also covers the cost of a foreign tour during the students stay in the college.
Computer facilities
Athy College is very proud if its computer facilities with 2 fixed computer laboratories, 1 computer based language labratory, 1 Computer equipped Desighn and Computer Graphics room, 2 mobile labtop computer laboratories and ! Apple mobile Computer lab.  All of these are availabe for student use as well as many individual computers in classrooms for research.  All classrooms are equipped with teachers desktop computer and short throw data projector.

Email
All students are assigned college based e-mail addresses through which they can communicate with each other, teachers and access teachers notes and general learning material which is aimed directly at them.  The storage and retrieval of information both through cloud computing and on the in house server is encourages and Athy College has been at the cutting edge of this technology

Text Messaging service
Athy College operates a bulk text message service to notify parents and guardians of closures, meetings, etc.  If over time you do not receive any messages please check with us as omissions to the list can occur

CCTV
CCTV cameras are in place throughout the school (internally and externally) in the interest of Health and Safety. 

Appointment
We are delighted to meet with parents but an appointment is appreciated.  Teachers/tutors can not leave their classes during the day without prior arrangement so please get in touch beforehand to arrange the visit.  Phone 059 8631663  mail@athycollege.ie

Security
In the interest of security front doors are magnetically locked throughout the school day.  All visitors have to identify themselves at the reception desk and students should never admit others to the school.

Uniform
The school operates a strict uniform policy in the interests of equity.  Parents are asked to support this policy firmly.

Sporting Facilities
Athy College is well equipped with the most modern of extracurricular and sports facilities.  These include a Sports Hall, State of the art Gymnasium, Football pitches, an all weather hockey pitch, external basketball/tennis courts.

Evening Classes
Athy College in conjunction with Co. Kildare VEC holds Adult Education Evening Classes both in the Autumn and Spring Terms.  Details and enrolment are available on line at www.kildarevec.ie
